Wildfire originally developed the CityPages in 1995 as a way to track all links associated with a community. Today, the CityPages offer local, and only local, businesses a way to market their products and services for $75/year. Businesses can manage what was once easily found in the newspaper and yellow pages. Namely, a business can post Press Releases and Articles to the local CityPage Newsfeed, and they can post events to the Community Calendar.
George Sykes, Wildfire owner and lead developer, explains, "This new release is something I have wanted to give to local businesses for years. There are 27+ tools offered to the business owner giving them a way to share their stories, tell of events, specials, press releases and job opportunities."
"And for the end user, there are no moving parts meaning we don't have popups while you are reading an article, we don't have ads in the middle of content and the search engine offered presents a real picture of goods and services in your local community," says Sykes. "Basically, the site is not random. The content has a start and end for the day. Residents can catch up and then move on. We don't want to create a continous random flow of content that has users scrolling all night long."
